Authentication Pages

Gale Admin offers many ways to authenticate patrons as they access the subscription-based products, some of which your library may not use.

Available at the Institution level (blue tab):

• IP Addresses: IP addresses that are added at the Institution level apply to all locations within the institution
• Passwords: From the Institution level, you can access a list of the authentication passwords used by member locations and link to the edit page for a specific location
• Cookie Password: From the Institution level, you can access a list of the cookie passwords used by member locations and link to the edit page for a specific location
• RPAS: From the Institution level, you can access a list of RPAS settings used by member locations and link to the edit page for a specific location
• Referring URL: Referring URL patterns that are entered at the Institution level can be set to apply to all locations or to a specific location
• Shibboleth: From the Institution level, you can access a display of Shibboleth settings used by member locations and link to the edit page for a specific location

Available at the Location level (green tab):

• IP Addresses: From the Location level, you can assign IP addresses to a specific location
• Passwords: Authentication passwords must be set up at the Location level
• Cookie/RPAS: Settings for either cookie passwords or RPAS authentication, if used, must be set up at the Location level
• Referring URL: Referring URL patterns that are entered at the Location level only apply to that specific location
• Shibboleth: Shibboleth settings must be set up at the Location level
